Welcome to the Vivid Sydney 2018 Volunteer Application Form.

Each year, hundreds of people from diverse backgrounds come together to experience and participate in the Vivid Sydney Volunteer Program.

Vivid Sydney, the world’s largest festival of light, music and ideas, returns from 25 May to 16 June 2018, with a spectacular outdoor gallery of lighting projections and sculptures illuminating the city’s iconic landmarks, a cutting-edge contemporary music program and some of the world’s most important creative industry forums.

In 2017, the festival welcomed a record 2.33 million attendees. This success was acknowledged at the prestigious Australian Event Awards with Vivid Sydney winning accolades for Best Tourism Event and Best Cultural, Arts and Music Event.

Celebrating its 10th Anniversary in 2018, Vivid Sydney is continually setting the benchmark for world class events, creativity and innovation.

Vivid Sydney is owned, managed and produced by Destination NSW, the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency and we are delighted that American Express is the proud Vivid Supporter for the Vivid Volunteer Program.

This is an ideal opportunity to be an integral part of the world’s largest festival of light, music and ideas. A number of voluntary positions are available for the duration of Vivid Sydney, including the Festival Information / Ambassadors, Information Booth Assistants, Installation Activity Assistants, Team Leaders and Accessibility Information Ambassadors.

Vivid Sydney has engaged I Need Helpers (INH), a specialist agency in major event volunteer management and a member of the State's peak body for volunteering, to oversee the volunteer requirements for the Festival.

Volunteering is a fantastic way to receive a behind-the-scenes insight to a major event of NSW and to build new friendships. Vivid Sydney is very appreciative of all volunteers who contribute their time to make the Festival one to remember. A few additional benefits include:

/ University, TAFE & RTO approved certified hours for course placement.
/ In depth pre-festival and on-shift briefings to ensure you feel comfortable within the role(s) assigned.
/ Guidance and supervision by trained I Need Helpers Volunteer Coordinators.
/ Recipient of a Vivid Sydney jacket and t-shirt to keep you warm during your assigned shift.
/ Free public transport (bus, train & ferry) to ensure safe travel to and from your shifts.
/ All volunteers assigned to a shift greater than 5hrs will receive a substantial meal offering.

/ Invitation to those who complete multiple shifts to Destination NSW's Vivid Volunteer Awards & Thank You Function.
/ Certificates of Appreciation from both Destination NSW and I Need Helpers to support with future career involvements.

The majority of shifts with Vivid Sydney will be scheduled between 5pm and 11pm – you must be comfortable with this prior to applying. We encourage volunteers to make themselves available to take on multiple shifts across the event period to gain a greater understanding of the different facets of the program.
